Holiday Secret Santa: 3_ships

Hi, Bioware fangirls (and fanboys). The holiday season secret santas and fic swap sign ups are beginning, and I was hoping to see some Dragon Age and Mass Effect (or any other Bioware games your heart desires) participants. The premise of the exchange is threesome (and this year, moresomes are allowed too) fics. Go check out the sign up page for more information on specifics of the swap.

It's a small exchange, but don't let that discourage you! I did it last year, and I enjoyed it very much. I wrote a fic I enjoyed writing and received a nice fic in exchange. And you can also sign up for pinch hitting, if you want the extra challenge. Hope to see you there!

Oh, and if you don't think you can commit, there's still a thing called the cookie jar where people request and receive threesome fics. It's a good way to participate, if you don't feel up to deadlines or just don't have the time this year.

Interview with Marauder Shields Comic Creator Koobismo
Azula: Everything I Ever..

If you haven't already, consider checking out the awesome interview with deviantArt Marauder Shields comic creator Koobismo on Game Front!

In the article, Koobismo (Koobs to his friends) discusses the origins of the comic, its inspirations, and gives some powerful hints about the future of the story as well as teasers about its ending. In the interview, he says:

"Mass Effect was the best sci-fi experience of my nerdy little life and I really didn’t want it to end with a nonsensical twist coming out of nowhere, casting a long, long shadow on the whole series, arbitrarily cancelling out its themes, breaking its backbone and laughing maniacally while doing so. For me, Mass Effect wasn’t finished, someone just took a 15-minute sequence out of a different story and pasted it into the wrong document."

The comic is a tribute to the things that fans loved about the universe of Mass Effect, and for many, is fast becoming the "real" ending that they all wished for in the story. The variant versions (such as different panels depending on a different Virmire survivor) as well as the inclusion of audio story adaptation further cement this status as the production's quality and class really emulates the experience of the full game story. "

The story of Marauder Shields is a story of hope and choice, and for fans it it's the choice that the production team didn't deliver. Fans of the comic may be delighted to learn that the comic of Marauder Shields is unfazed by BioWare's Extended Cut DLC and has plans to continue the story to a riveting finish. As reported, "the story won’t be concluded for, roughly, 33 weeks; because that’s how long it’ll take him to create the ending he, and roughly a million viewers, wanted to see from BioWare’s sci-fi saga."

In a tantalizing glimpse at the audio side of the production, Koobs also reveals:

"We will have some voice cameos by awesome BioWare coolcats as well, but we’ll announce the details on that once their lines are ready and pending. With all of these fantastic touches planned, one can't wait to get the rest!

The Koobismo team presents... another episode in the epic tale of Marauder Shields.
This comic is a dramatic revisionist retelling of the Mass Effect 3 story's ending. It is done by fans for fans, and not in any way for profitMarauder Shields is a celebration of all the things we love about the story, the characters, and the universe of Mass Effect. It's a vision of what fans would like to see as the true completion of a moving and epic trilogy arc.

Marauder Shields is a tribute. If you enjoyed it, please pass it on.

What is Marauder Shields?

(from Know Your Meme)  "Marauder Shields is the final enemy that appears in Bioware’s Mass Effect 3. Following the poor reception of thegame’s ending sequence, fans on 4chan and Reddit began joking that the Marauder was put in the game to stop players from reaching the disappointing ending.
As the thread continued, commenters playfully martyrized the enemy, seeing him as the only thing standing between players and the disappointing ending. Later on March 14th, screenshots from the /v/ thread were shared on the Mass Effect subreddit.Additionally, a thread dedicated to the enemy character was created on the official BioWare Forums and a video titled “His Name Was Marauder Shields” was uploaded to YouTube depicting the character’s backstory."Comic under cutCollapse )

Shortly thereafter, the first Marauder Shields comic appeared from user Koobismo on deviantArt on March 17th. A revisionist retelling of the Mass Effect 3 ending, the comic seeks to walk a balance between fan disappointment over the ending, and prove that the fans of Mass Effect are not just "whiny" consumers with an over developed sense of entitlement, but passionate and creative people who appreciate the universe that the BioWare team has built, were disappointed in the ending, but have taken that passion and turned it into a tribute to the games' power and impact.
